THE KARNES COUNTY APPRAISAL DISTRICT DOES NOT COLLECT TAXES.
Tuesday, April 15, is the last day for property owners, or secured parties if applicable, to file renditions and property information reports unless they request a filing extension in writing (Sec. 22.23).
The Karnes County Appraisal District appraises property for ad valorem taxation of these taxing authorities.

The duties of the appraisal district include:
- The determination of market value of taxable property
- The administration of exemptions and special valuations authorized by the local entities and the State of Texas
Tax rates and ultimately the amount of taxes levied on property are determined by governing bodies of each of the taxing authorities.
Prichard & Abbott will be appraising the Mineral, Utility, and Industrial accounts beginning 2015.
Real estate and personal property accounts are appraised by Pritchard & Abbott Inc. and locally by the district.
